Most advertising tries to get in between you and what you want to do like when you're reading an article and the screen is covered with pop-ups. It's like mosquitos biting you on a summer night - annoying and distracting. But, I grew up catching lightning bugs on summer nights. They added a lot of fun to those twilight hours. I wanted to make advertising like that. Most local advertisers are good people who believe in their product. By giving you the customer power to tell advertisers what and how much you want it turns the advertisements into useful information that saves you both time and money. Our goal is to turn mosquitoes into lighting bugs - something you actually want!
We have some strict rules to protect all users of LightningBug:
1) No obscene or rude messages.
2) Only give great deals like 50% off or 2 for 1.
3) Advertisers can send a time limited deal, but not limit the number of items being sold unless it is for a venue like a theater with a fixed number of seats. But, they can limit a number of items per customer.
No: "Free gift bag to the first 50 people."
Yes: "2 for 1 movie tickets for the next 30 minutes."
4) Don't advertise off category.
